RenewalKit FAQ
Clear answers about your records, reminders, privacy, and plans.
What can I track with RenewalKit?
RenewalKit supports passports, passport cards, driver’s licenses, national IDs, visas, residence and work permits, travel authorizations, vehicle records and insurance, payment-card dates, health and professional records, memberships, subscriptions, contracts, certificates, warranties, and a custom Other type.
Does RenewalKit save document photos or raw OCR text?
Scan images and raw OCR are used temporarily during recognition and confirmation. They are not fields in RenewalKit’s persistent record model, and the app does not save a scan image into its database or Photos library. The record fields you confirm are stored.
What information does RenewalKit store?
A saved record can include its title, type, issuer country, issue and expiration dates, optional document number, optional name on the document, notes, archive state, profile assignment, and reminder rules. Records are local by default and can synchronize through CloudKit if you enable iCloud sync.
Do I need a RenewalKit account?
No RenewalKit account is required for the core record, scanning, and local reminder workflow. Apple may require your Apple Account for App Store purchases, restores, or optional iCloud features.
Does RenewalKit work offline?
The core local record workflow, on-device text recognition, and already scheduled local notifications can work without a network connection. Purchases and restores, optional iCloud sync, updates and configuration, and optional analytics or diagnostics can require a connection.
How do local reminders work?
RenewalKit schedules notification requests on your device for the lead times and times you choose. You must allow notifications. iOS handles presentation, so Focus, Scheduled Summary, notification settings, and device state can affect when or how an alert appears.
What happens when I turn on iCloud sync?
Supported RenewalKit records synchronize through Apple CloudKit under your Apple Account. iCloud sync is off by default. Apple encrypts third-party app data in transit and on server; applicable end-to-end protection depends on Apple’s Advanced Data Protection settings.
How does Passport NFC import work?
On a compatible device, RenewalKit first scans the passport’s machine-readable zone to derive a temporary access key, then reads DG1 identity data from a supported ePassport chip and opens the normal confirmation screen. You review the suggested fields before saving.
Does Passport NFC verify that a passport is genuine?
No. RenewalKit imports supported DG1 details for reminder setup. It is not a border-inspection or identity-verification system and does not certify authenticity or travel eligibility.
Is the six-month passport-validity rule universal?
No. Some destinations and airlines require validity beyond the dates of a trip, but rules vary by destination, transit point, nationality, and carrier. Check current official government, embassy or consulate, and airline guidance for the specific trip.
Which plans include Profiles?
Current app entitlement code includes Profiles with the standalone Profiles add-on, lifetime Unlimited, and Upgrade to Unlimited. Monthly and yearly Unlimited subscriptions currently provide unlimited document capacity but do not themselves grant Profiles.
Can RenewalKit cancel subscriptions, pay bills, renew documents, or file warranty claims?
No. RenewalKit records dates and schedules reminders. It does not contact issuers, cancel services, manage billing, submit renewals, make payments, or file claims.
Does the app use analytics?
The current app enables Anonymous Analytics by default and may use pseudonymous Firebase and Mixpanel usage or diagnostic signals designed to exclude document content. You can turn future app analytics and diagnostics off in RenewalKit Settings.
Does this website use analytics before I opt in?
No. The website must not load Google Analytics, Firebase, Google tags, Google Fonts, or make another Google request until you explicitly accept website analytics.
How can I change or withdraw website analytics consent?
Open Privacy settings in the footer, turn off Website analytics, and select Save preferences. Withdrawing stops future website analytics and removes analytics storage the site can remove. It does not retroactively delete data already processed before withdrawal.
